Robbins a City in Moore County NC. was established in 1943. The small town was then named Hemp until its citizens changed the town name to Robbins in recognition of Karl Robbins (1892-1960) who owned the textile mill that later became Miliken. in 1943, Karl Robbins was responsible for a lot of good thins in Hemp now known as Robbins, He was responsible for modern treatment treatment plant and a waste water disposal system completed in 1937, he also provided a recreational facility, dial telephone service, a fire truck, and a baseball park. Robbins started a non profit Vineland's and gave or loaned $400,000 for research triangle park to be started just outside Raleigh, NC at the request of Governor Luther Hodges, in lea of this the Town of Hemp elected to change the name in 1943 to Robbins by the act of general Assembly.
